April is National Autism Awareness Month and we have found a great organization that increases the awareness of autism spectrum disorders in our area. The Center for Autism Resources and Education (C.A.R.E.) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide continued education, professional training, resources, and related support to parents, professionals, and other caregivers. In 2009 C.A.R.E. hosted their first Autism Awareness 5k run and raised $80,000 to provide education and resources for families with autistic members.
We are happy to announce that this year Parker Wellness Center will be participating in their second annual Autism Awareness 5k run and 1 mile Family/Friends Fun Walk. The event will be held in Lakewood Ranch, Florida on Saurday, April 17th, 2010.
