Brain Balance Therapy is based on a technique called Hemispheric Integration Therapy developed by Dr. Robert Melillo. Current research on brain function proves that children who have been diagnosed with disorders such as ADHD, PDD-NOS, Asperger’s, and learning disabilities, suffer from a under connectivity which occurs within and between the left and right hemispheres of the brain and/or large networks inside of the brain. Studies prove that it is this imbalance of function, also referred to as functional disconnection syndrome, which is often responsible for many if not all of the physical, cognitive and/or behavior difficulties related to these disorders. The good news is, is that current research about the brain proves that the neurons in the brain are not damaged in any way. They are however, under stimulated and weak. The concept called neuroplasticity is the ability of the nerve to change and grow based upon proper stimulation.
